Through a brief photographic documentary, I explored the statues of the Monumental Cemetery of Milan, highlighting how sculptural art in this graveyard can be as expressive as a conventional portrait. This project pays homage to nostalgia and sadness, encapsulating the emotions of thousands in their place of eternal rest. The statues, more than mere monuments, become silent and poignant witnesses of lives past. Capturing the grandeur and melancholy of these works, the documentary glimpses the unique ability of funerary sculptures to convey complex emotions and be an artistic medium that transcends mere commemoration, establishing a bridge between life and death in this unique space in Milan.
